Book Summary

Frostbitten is a fictional story narrated by the main character, a black female Rene Williams, who spent most of her life in the confines of a familiar and comfortable ethnic and socio-economic background.

After completing her undergraduate studies, Rene lands her first job away from home in a white-male dominated work environment, 'Corporate America.'

It doesn't take long for her to realize that she is outside of her comfort zone. However, due to her new circumstance she must deal head on with stereotypes, prejudices, and her own naivety.

Although the warm-up period is slow and seemingly endless, Rene finds solace in her faith in the God of her youth and her determination to move on.

The story takes place in the late 1980's. The setting bounces back and forth between Philadelphia, PA and suburban Detroit, MI.

As the author takes you on this realistic and yet humorous life journey, she also provides comfort for those who may be discouraged in this type of new-found independence and hope for the praying parent(s).
